1 Resistance Stretching
1.1 Self-stretches
Self-stretches are a good introduction to Resistance Stretching as they are very suitable for self-discovery, rehabilitation, strength training and healing. The exercises can be easily tailored to the abilities of the participants.
Students will learn and practise
Students will learn and practise
- the principles of RS,
- how to identify the 16 meridians used in RS,
- basic and intermediate self-stretches,
- how to combine strengthening and stretching variations to improve the efficiency of the stretch,
- simple assisted partner stretches.
1.2 Assisted Partner Stretches
Assisted partner stretches have the advantage that the person being stretched can focus on resisting only, but requires that the students trust and cooperate with each other. More strength can also be utilised when multiple assistants help out stretching a single person. In these sessions the participants will learn how to stretch other people and should start the habit of stretching each other to build a community.
Students will learn and practise
The community practising assisted partner stretches will gradually learn how to personalise the stretches to an individual.

- positioning yourself for effective partner stretches,
- how the meridians are associated with different vector movements,
- feeling the body and identifying tight fascia tissues,
- working together and supporting each other.

1.3 Personalised Stretches
Personalised stretches are sophisticated and adaptive partner stretches. The experienced assistant modifies the movement of the stretch to work the tightest fascia tissue felt in the partner, who is being stretched.
- The variety of movements is only limited by the creativity of the assistant and the physical body of the partner. The body can be moved and stretched in unique positions tailored to the individual.
- The tightness observed by the assistant may not be noticed by the individual when doing self-stretches or simple assisted partner stretches. Hard to reach areas can be discovered and worked on.
2 Massage and Acupressure points
An important way to balance out the intense Resistance stretching exercises is to massage the body and stimulate acupuncture points to accelerate recovery by moving lymph, blood and energy flow.

3 Breathing and Meditation
To harmonise the physical body it is important to relax the mind and train the spirit. Breathing exercises, focused attention as well as intentional relaxation can help to harmonise body, mind and spirit. I can share Sudarshan Kriya breathing exercises and simple meditation practises with the RS community.
